The term "Playline" means that the Barbie was designed for children. It helped develop the imagination of the youngest, allowing them to identify with all professions, situations or even disabilities. Initially associated with the American way of life, in the context of the Cold War, Barbie has since tended to embody a more universal dimension, supported in particular by numerous professional variations (veterinarian, paleontologist, computer scientist, police officer, astronaut, president, etc.) , an echo of female emancipation in the world of work in the second half of the 20th century. By the diversity of its versions and the place that holidays occupy in its universe, it is also symptomatic of the democratization of leisure.
